Programme on Science Olympiads 2013
Gujarat Council of Science City (GCSC), working under the aegis of Department of
Science & Technology, Govt of Gujarat, is organizing different types of
scientific programme including with a series of popular science lectures on
frontier areas of science and technology for spreading of new knowledge and
awareness among students as well as public.GCSC organize three day orientation
programme on National Science Olympiads for whole state science steam Std.XI
students.
Science Olympiad has been considered as an
ideal programme for meritorious students and teachers of the state in
developing science and math concepts and also to develop attitude and problem
solving approach. In this regard, GCSC
is planning for two categories, one is newly started Junior Science and Math
Olympiad for the student of Class VIII & IX and the second one is the
National and International Science Olympiads in Physics, Chemistry, Math,
Biology and Astronomy for the student of Class XI & XII. The latter one is
being coordinate by HBCSE-TIFR, Mumbai.
Gujarat Science City organize three days
residential type for and the student participants will receive maximum time for
understanding the basic philosophy of each subject of the Science Olympiads and
also encouraged to enroll in the programme through proper application form and
procedure. The participated students will also encourage and motivating their
friends in their school, so that more and more students will be enrolled from
the state within the due date of 15th September 2013.
It has been observed that the students and
teachers of the Gujarat are not well aware and
motivated to take part in this prestigious scientific and academic programme.
In comparison to other states, we have a very low number of students, enrolled
for the preliminary examination of the science Olympiads. Last few years, GCSC has taken the lead and
requested the HBCSE-TIFR for extending the dates for Gujarat
students, organized an Orientation Programme for the students of Std XI &
XII. After this programme, the student enrolment was increased from merely 500
to about 4000 and since last couple of years, our students are getting selected
to National Science Olympiads in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics,
Astronomy and Junior Science Olympiads.
GCSC invite good experts on different
subjects for this programme who can interact with the students. Faculties who
are directly involved in the Science Olympiad process in different discipline
will be invited for student’s interaction and orientation.GCSC involve 150
students of Std.XI science of state for three day with different subject
interactive session.
