BIODIVERSITY & FORESTS

For VIPNET Science Club Students and Teachers

GUJARAT SCIENCE CITY, AHMEDABAD

26^th to 29^th May 2011

Gujarat Science City in collaboration with the Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India is organizing a National Camp on Biodiversity & Forest at Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad during 26^th to 29^th May 2011. About selected 200 selected students and teachers of the VIPNET Science Clubs across the country are being selected and invited to participate in the programme.

The national camp has been organized to mark the celebration of International Year of Forests with a theme ‘Forests for people” and will be focused on understanding the importance of bioresources, their sustainable use and conservation. The programme will also provide an opportunity to the young students to interact with leading scientists and experts from this field, visiting important scientific institutions and field trips. By learning and thinking about these issues, the participants can start to understand our biodiversity as well as our own dependence on it.

The four-days national camp is going to be inaugurated by Dr. S. K. Nanda, IAS, Principal Secretary, Environment and Forests Department, Government of Gujarat. The camp will include resource presentations by many eminent scientists and experts in this field. A draft programme schedule is enclosed herewith for your kind perusal.

The national camp will provide a curious and creative spirit among the school children for understanding the dynamic world around them with a practice of scientific attitude and temperament, so that their career will grow and prosper with lots of innovation.
